Library Music

January 15, 2017 - March 27, 2017

FREE

A site-specific sound installation by the newly-minted BC30, the tablecore trio initially charged with fronting for Big City Orchestra‘s in-studio radio interview, and now finding it can’t stop articulating themes. I’m on Jurassic electronics with Andrew Cowitt and Michael Wertz.

The installation is performed by six of the Library’s Digital Talking Book Players, and draws its sonic vocabulary from field recordings in the Library itself. The central melody of Library Music was created by a braille printer, which BC3.0 realizes with piano, sample, audio collage and silence.

When you visit the Library expecting to hear music and you hear (instead) silence, just wait in the stacks. BC3o will show up. If you need to hear more of it, continuously, point your Internet radio here. If you want to add it to your SoundCloud playlist, point your browser here.
