Music for the Afterlife

Permitted to touch the objects in Pet The Tiger‘s performance program for Tomb Treasures. Edward Shocker is reeling me to perform on drum in a Lou Harrison piece and one of Edward’s sijo compositions, last attempted in Studio A of KPFA with a rock kit bass drum. Gamelan Encinal and Bart Hopkin will hold forth as well, riffing off the tunings of the exhibited Han dynasty Bianzhong bronze bells. There will be new works for pipa (Chinese lute) and the Han bronze bells by Sophia Shen and Stephen Parris, and movement by Christina Braun.

Two shows at Noon and 2pm. Free with museum admission.
