DESCRIPTION:From 2020 – 2022\, I created five graphic scores for Redline Redefined\, Thingamajigs’ commissioning project that catalyzes artist investigations of East Bay historic (and current) redlining. \nThe scores were briefly available to perform at the five sites that inspired them\, if you knew to look for an unusual real estate sign\, and now they are emerging as small films for various ensembles. \nAt this matinee launch party for Zachary James Watkins (commissioned in the second cohort of Redline Redefined artists) I’ll be showing two films: WILLOW and GRIST accompanied by affiliates of of the duo B. DESCRIPTION:Commissioned by Thingamajigs Redline Redefined in 2021\, I created graphic scores and soundscapes from field recordings and research of the 1937 Holc maps of the historic Brooklyn and Clinton townships that intersect nearly on top of my studio. Now it’s time to hop on your bike to explore the five locations with me. \nThis flat route is slow-paced\, family friendly\, with frequent stops for a bit of history and plant identification\, some deep listening\, and conversation about how the red line has always been\, and continues to be redefined by people\, cultures\, and the natural world itself. \nThe round trip starts at 11am from the Fruitvale BART taxi stand and will last 60-90 minutes. Bring your bike\, helmet\, water\, and smart phone loaded with the Redline Redefined map. \nHere’s my artist statement for additional context. DESCRIPTION:BCO inhabits the 20th annual Music for People & Thingamajigs Festival with a rare performance of the Big City Orchestrae Women’s Auxiliary. I’ll be in the Auxiliary on bell\, as will everyone else\, namely  BCO principals dAS and Nina and collaborators Cheryl Leonard\, Melissa Margolis\, Cait McWhirr and others. \nThe performance is made possible by the unfortunate cancellation of Living Earth Show’s intention to perform Dennis Aman’s 24 Preludes and Fugues\, which you should consume anyway. \nHappily\, the set by visiting artist Joo Won Park is still a feature of the show.

All new tunes based on John’s early morning somniloquisms.\nThe drummer ‘Fraid o’ Freyja\, the just-intoned psychedelic\, kraut rocked\, tantric alter-ego of Thingamajigs Performance Group. Expect the Shiurway Kit\, the Les Paul\, the Amp That Does Not Sound Like Itself\, the Crybaby Wah-Wah\, and the Just-Intoned Wurli set like a tornado at your esteemed feet.\n\nDelicately de-tuned Hazel Atlas starts everything off.
