SUMMARY:Forer Effect > New Zombies
DESCRIPTION:Debuting a new duo Forer Effect (look it up\, you’ll see yourself in the band in an uncanny way)\, which is me and the most esteemed  Sheila Bosco (Dire Wolves\, Angel Archer\, Autobody) jackhammering through a universe striped by twin comets of Syndrum pew pew pews and honk horn music of Ghana. \nIt’s our way of opening a beat-crazy bill featuring Jordan Glenn’s BEAK\, the large ensemble blurring the line between dynamic/energetic grooves and chaos\, and New Zombies\, the large ensemble dedicated to putting the avant garde compositions of Dan Plonsey into Afrobeat arrangements.

SUMMARY:texting band
DESCRIPTION:Taking over\, for as long as host Barbara Golden permits\, the Crack O Dawn show on KPFA 94.1FM with Kattt Atchley and Dan Plonsey\, with whom I’ve been texting for several months\, or perhaps a year. Like most good things I don’t know when or why it began. \nOver time the conversation became a form of conceptual music making\, governed by all of the principles and forces of improvisation\, rife with surprising harmony and stunning dissonance\, notes that instigated a cascade of responses and notes that commanded immediate silence\, only to return in a whisper from a new player. \nExpect something hugely meta to demonstrate what we’re talking about.

No lie. \nThis performance reprises Moe!’s first work for large ensemble: Piece No. 1: Death of a Piano. SUMMARY:Vegan Butcher
DESCRIPTION:A rare sighting of the ethereal headbang Vegan Butcher\, the band that plays songs 1) only composed in January\, and 2) only containing nine notes. I should mention it is also 3) very quiet and 4) very loud. Five new songs\, baby. \nI’m in the rhythm section with Wil Hendricks (bass) underpinning John Shiurba‘s liminal anthems (and electric guitar)\, that are eventually\, in good time\, wait for it\, redeemed by metatron Angela Coon singing five sentences from John’s pre-dawn somniloquies. \nWe’ll be opening for the power trio of Fred Frith\, Scott Amendola\, and Phillip Greenlief.

SUMMARY:Bell Clapper Overdrive
DESCRIPTION:BCO inhabits the 20th annual Music for People & Thingamajigs Festival with a rare performance of the Big City Orchestrae Women’s Auxiliary. I’ll be in the Auxiliary on bell\, as will everyone else\, namely  BCO principals dAS and Nina and collaborators Cheryl Leonard\, Melissa Margolis\, Cait McWhirr and others. \nThe performance is made possible by the unfortunate cancellation of Living Earth Show’s intention to perform Dennis Aman’s 24 Preludes and Fugues\, which you should consume anyway. \nHappily\, the set by visiting artist Joo Won Park is still a feature of the show.
