SUMMARY:with Dan Plonsey
DESCRIPTION:A yearish ago\, Dan Plonsey led a bunch of us down a literal path of outdoor music making\, which featured all those late summer things: the raking light through a coastal arbor\, the small of dust and manzanita\, the late silver-green of foliage\, and the percolating sound of a creek under a flanking green. \nAs creative new music marches go\, this was a pretty good one\, but not as good (and what can be?) as the march we did as Daniel Popsicle in Santa Cruz\, in which the keyboardist laid down on the trail and started to roll down the hill to the stage as part of her march. That march was not as good (and what can be?) as the rehearsal where Dan tried to teach us to march. Our lack of marching skills was so complete\, so outstanding\, that we died laughing and were immediately brought back to life\, so we could continue on in the world for you to apprehend. \nBack to that yearish ago day. Our march arrived at a frog pond\, tiny\, reed and lily-filled\, apparently beloved. We made a racket\, then wandered back up in ones and twos\, cursing the incline. \nThe frog pond stuck in my head\, not only because I felt I had to come back and apologize to it for the surprise experimental improv (I did). I periodically encouraged Dan to write something specific for it\, and he may have. \nCome find out. I’ll be in a duet with him (or perhaps joining him in a large ensemble of pre-existing sounds) on tuned wood.

SUMMARY:Vegan Butcher
DESCRIPTION:Return of the ethereal headbang Vegan Butcher\, the band that plays songs 1) only composed in January\, and 2) only containing nine notes. I should mention it is also 3) very quiet and 4) very loud\, this time in the context of the annual Outsound New Music Summit. \nI’m in the rhythm section with Wil Hendricks (bass) underpinning John Shiurba‘s liminal anthems (and electric guitar)\, that are eventually\, in good time\, wait for it\, redeemed by metatron Angela Coon singing five sentences from John’s pre-dawn somniloquies.

SUMMARY:she mob
DESCRIPTION:Sitting in on toy accordion for the band of which I am the number one fan. The occasion is the Festival of the Fundraisers\, a Jeremy Gorman banger in support of Chapter 510 and the Department of Make Believe\, the Oakland-based\, youth-serving literary arts nonprofit. \nThe poster by Paul Pot spells everything out in appropriate detail\, but if you’ve ever been to The Stork on a Sunday afternoon to see 12 bands and eat potluck\, which yes\, will include a Safeway-brand ring of shrimp with a mysterious red sauce\, you don’t need a poster. This is you being you.
