Solo Organ + ‘Fraid o’ Freyja + Winner’s Bitch + DJ Paratune

October 8, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm PDT

$10 – $15

Part of Alt-Rock night at the 19th Annual Music for People & Thingamajigs Festival, I’m showing up three times at this show as

  • DJ Paratune, spinning the top microtonal hits from Ethiopia, Baltimore, Northern El Cerrito and West Bay, with interstitial alternate tuned pieces from Southern Oregon and rare recordings of early editions of the Dylan Bolles’ magnificent keyboard playing.
  • The drummer in Winner’s Bitch, a detuned speed metal thrash duo named for the esteemed dog show prize. WB features the electric guitar of Joy Sue Hutchinson (Institute of Light and Joy, She Mob) and my double-kick pedal mercilessly pulling the thread of life’s existential sweater until it completely unravels and can no longer be used for its original purpose. Joy is better known as a sound healer and social change advocate credentialed by the California Institute of Integral Studies. She holds a certificate in Yoga of the Voice from the Vox Mundi Mystery School of the Voice, led by her beloved teacher, Silvia Nakkach. Suki has studied Naada Yoga with Ann Dyer. Together, Joy and Suki apply principles of breath and vibration to explosive compositions about shoes, paranoia, decision-making, out-sized herbal supplements and mammogram machines.
  • Drumming in ‘Fraid o’ Freyja, the just-intoned psychedelic, kraut rocked, tantric alter-ego of Thingamajigs Performance Group. Expect the Shiurway Kit, the Les Paul, the Amp That Does Not Sound Like Itself, the Crybaby Wah-Wah, and the Just-Intoned Wurli set like a tornado at your esteemed feet.

Late set headliner Solo Organ sets everything straight.
